What comes to your mind when you think of Jesus?
Some think of the gentle Jesus, hero of the pacifist cause, who tells us to turn the other cheek to our worst aggressor. Others may think of Jesus the humanitarian, whose mission was to relieve the world of misery and suffering. Still others see Jesus as the model of tolerance, questioning why his followers seem so intolerant at times.
So what comes to your mind when you think of Jesus Christ?
In the months ahead (in fact, all the way to Easter of 2010!), we’ll be taking an in-depth look at this “one solitary life” – the life of Christ. And as we do, I’m sure that some of the caricatures that shape our view of Jesus will be challenged, evaluated and politely dismissed.
Our goal will be to see the real Jesus, the Jesus of the gospels. But we want to do more than “see” him. We desire that his life – who he is, what he taught and how he lived – might radically transform our way of life.
